3 Reasons why we embarked The Quranic Project

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

A group of us guys were randomly chatting on how articles such "Date a Girl who Travels", "6 Dates for Introverts To Take Themselves On", and "50 Songs From The 80s That Will Put You In a Good Mood" have the ability to influence readers by defining what's cool and what's not. A "Share" shows support for what's being written and a "Like" shows that their peers too support what's being written. The view counts increase exponentially and overtime, we subconsciously grow up wanting to travel to Europe or go on dates simply because friends and friends of friends share the same views. The power of social media is pretty interesting, and to certain extent, scary too.

Someone should write a list called "25 Reasons Why You Must Follow Allah's Orders", suggested one.

Building on, another proposed, "Let's try to compile a different kind of lists. For a start, let us each find lists that exist within the Quran. We could meet up monthly and share the different lists that we've managed to find. Like if you're in!"

A couple of Likes later, we present to you - The Quranic Project.

"3 reasons Why We Embarked on The Quranic Project"

1. To add a different dimension to regular chats and conversations

Conversations often revolve around updates on school, work, the poor form of Manchester United and the ideal marriage. While fun, it does get boring after a while. Engaging on this project adds another topic for sharing and discussion!

2. To find and share with our friends the many lists that exist in the Quran as well as the Hadith

Lists are making their rounds on Facebook every other day so add something similar yet different to the mix! So for a start, the group of us decided to embark on this project to find lists that exist in the Quran. As a teaser, there's one is Surah Al-Mu'Minuun (The Believers) - a list of seven characters of a successful believer! But that's for a separate post!

3. To encourage others to embark on little projects that revolve around the Quran and Hadith with family and friends

Monopoly, Snap, Uno, Jenga, Snake and Ladders, Hungry Hippos. We grew up playing and loving these games with our family and friends. What if we could also include into the mix activities that revolve around the Quran and Hadith?

For example, with young children, one could play "Count the number of the letter Aleef in Surah Al-Fatihah". With older kids, one could play "Find the number of Madd Leen or Madd Badal in Surah An-Naba" or "Name the Surah where one can find the stories of Prophet Joseph." For bonus points, one could attempt to name the verses. You get the idea!

Let's strive to create a God-conscious community. Let's begin from our homes and those who are close to us. Share your little projects and may it inspire others to do the same or even better - for the sake of Allah.
